The Coachella 2019 lineup is here! Headlining the 20th year of the festival are Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and Ariana Grande. This marks the third straight year a female pop star is headlining the festival, as Grande follows up Lady Gaga and Beyonce the past two years.
The festival returns to the Empire Polo Club on consecutive weekends. The first weekend runs F riday, April 12 through Sunday, April 14. The second weekend runs Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21.
The initial rumored headliners were Childish Gambino, Kanye West, and Justin Timberlake. Timberlake was likely pulled off the bill when he bruised his vocal chords and had to reschedule dates, putting southern California tour dates really close to the festival, thus ruining their exclusivity. TMZ broke the news Wednesday that Kanye West was off the bill, reportedly because he couldn’t agree on the stage design. But who knows with Kanye.
The undercard is eclectic and mainstream all at once. Among the top undercard names are Janelle Monae, Solange, The 1975, Kid Cudi, Khalid, Zedd, DJ Snake, Gesaffelstein, Weezer, Aphex Twin, Diplo, Bad Bunny, Dillon Francis, J Balvin, RUFUS DU SOL, Billie Eilish, CHVRCHES, YG, and Bassnectar. Korean all-girl pop group BLACKPINK also appears on the second line.
Standout undercard acts deeper down the bill include Anderson. Paak & The Free Nationals, Kacey Musgraves, Los Tucanes De Tijuana, Four Tet, Christine & The Queens, Wiz Khalifa, Mac DeMarco, Maggie Rogers, H.E.R., Blood Orange, Pusha T, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Kaytranada.
As the font gets smaller, the acts get more eclectic. Khruangbin, Ty Segall & White Fence, and Charlotte Gainsbourg are among the standout acts.
