Electro-folk duo Sylvan Esso are preparing to release their much-anticipated second record, and have rolled out the music video for “Kick Jump Twist” on Tuesday.
Vocalist Amelia Meath and producer Nick Sanborn have been performing the song live since at least their two Coachella performances in 2015. The song features a minimalist beat that has sort of a Pac-Man sound to it. I am very much looking forward to their new record, which hasn’t yet been given a release date but should be out sometime in 2017. Their self-titled 2014 record was a unique one in the electronic genre, as Meath’s vocals gave it a more folksy feel.
The video features dancer Gary Reagan dancing for the song’s entire four and a half minutes and is directed by Mimi Cave, who also directed videos for Danny Brown and tUnE-yArDs.
You can catch Sylvan Esso at a couple of U.S. music festivals this year – they are on the bills at Shaky Knees and Boston Calling this May.
