Legendary Blues and Rock group the Steve Miller Band played the YouTube Theater on September 21st with Little Luna as the opening act. This was a greatest hits night and every single song was a hit (17 total). Originally a Blues artist in the 60’s, Miller became a Rock artist in the 70’s.
Over six decades, Miller has released 18 studio albums and had his first Platinum album with The Joker in 1973, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year with various lineups. The following album Fly Like an Eagle went 4x Platinum. The band also had 23 charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and three went to number 1 which were “The Joker,” “Rock N’ Me,” and “Abracadabra,” which were all performed.”
Miller and his band opened with “Swingtown,” and the hits continued with “The Stake and “True Fine Love.” “Jet Airliner” was played twice, once with the band, and second time was Miller on a Martin acoustic guitar. The last song before the encore was “The Joker.” The two song encore consisted of “Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma Ma” and “Rock N’ Me.” Miller changed guitars each song and for “Wild Mountain Honey” brought out his famous Electric Sitar.
The band consists of bassist Kenny Lee Lewis who had been working with Miller as a producer and writer as well since 1982, keyboardist Joseph Wooten (since 1993), guitarist Jacob Petersen (since 2011), and newest member Ron Wikso on drums since 2021. Miller was inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
