Aussie multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana has come a long ways in the last 12 months, and as the release of her debut full-length album nears, we’ve been treated to a new track.
“Harvest Love” has actually been in Sultana’a repertoire for quite a while. In fact, when I first discovered her, it was this bedroom video of that song that caught my attention more than any of her other tracks. “Harvest Love” has a more minimal production than many of Tash’s creations, instead emphasizing her dazzling vocals.
Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in all that Sultana is capable of in terms of all her musical talents that you don’t hone in on her voice quite as much (I call it the Gary Clark Jr. Paradox). Sultana hits a home run with the sentimentality on “Harvest Love”, which you can listen to below (you can watch her stripped-down Live Lounge performance here):
“Harvest Love” comes from the full-length debut from Sultana called Flow State, which drops August 31 via Mom+Pop Records. After listening to the album a handful of times already, I can tell you it’s my pick so far for Debut Album of the Year. It’s been a long road from busking on the streets to playing major festivals and sold-out shows around the world, and Sultana retains her authenticity on the new record.
Tash Sultana has a show December 1 at the Shrine Expo Hall, and having seen her a couple times already, it’s a show you don’t want to miss. She was certainly a favorite at Coachella 2018 (and I was very jealous watching the show from the live stream). Catch her at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands this year!
