Aussie soul and R&B singer Meg Mac has shared a new song from her upcoming debut album, and it has us that much more excited to see her play Los Angeles later this month. It’s been a whirlwind week of new music from the likes of Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, Halsey, and more — but it’s this Meg Mac song that’s been an earworm for me so far.
Called “Maybe It’s My First Time”, the song proves Meg Mac has upped her game in terms of crafting a perfect soulful pop song. Few are as vocally talented as the Aussie singer, who first made an impression on me years ago with her cover of BROODS’ “Bridges” on Triple J’s Like a Version. Give “Maybe It’s My First Time” a listen below:
After releasing a critically acclaimed EP in 2014, news of her debut album finally came this year. Her debut record is called Low Blows and will be released July 14 via 300 Entertainment. The title track was the first from the record we got to hear, and it’s a doozy as well.
Los Angeles fans will get an opportunity to see Meg Mac perform at the Troubadour on Monday, June 26. Tickets are still available. Don’t miss out! I’ll be getting to see her at Firefly Festival in a few weeks and am pretty stoked about it.
