If you’re familiar with me at all outside this blog, you know I’m one of the world’s biggest Jenny Lewis fans. Friday, a new song dropped that features the indie rock queen’s vocals on a cover of a classic David Bowie cover.
Former Late Night with David Letterman musical director Paul Shaffer is dropping a self-titled album with The World’s Most Dangerous Band on March 17 (via Sire Records). It features collaborations with Bill Murray, Darius Rucker, Shaggy — but most importantly Lewis. That track is a cover of the McCoys’ “Sorrow, a song Bowie covered on his 1973 record Pin Ups.
You can listen to the track below and hear Lewis’ gorgeous vocals. Lewis is currently working on the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed 2014 third solo record The Voyager. As she did with that record, she’s working with Ryan Adams at his PAXAM Records. Adams has shared some clips on his Instagram from those sessions, and I am counting down the days until we find out more info.
