Back in October, when rising UK indie pop star Holly Humberstone toured through Los Angeles for the first time with sold-out gigs at The Roxy, I proceeded to cross my fingers she’d be on the following year’s Coachella lineup.
If you look through Saturday’s lineup, you’ll find Holly Humberstone‘s name on the Coachella 2022 poster. She has arrived — and she took only a couple weeks into the new year to give us a new song. “London is Lonely” is the first new song since she released November 2021’s brilliant The Walls Are Way Too Thin EP. Check it out below:
“London is Lonely” sees Humberstone lean into the somber as she sings about how her move to London left her feeling disconnected and isolated. This song is a little more Japanese House than Maggie Rogers — which was the first name that popped into my head in terms of what kind of potential Holly Humberstone has as a future headliner.
Holly Humberstone doesn’t have any headlining dates in Los Angeles yet — but she will be in support of Olivia Rodrigo at the Greek Theatre on May 24 and May 25. Both shows are sold out. Hopefully we get a Coachella side show in the weeks around the festival.
Watch a heartbreaking live version of the song that was uploaded to Holly Humberstone’s YouTube channel.
