The youth is out to save us — and the new collaboration between Cuco and Clairo proves just that.
Both graduates of the bedroom pop genre into full-fledged production, Cuco and Clairo are two of the fastest-rising musicians to break through in the last year. It’s perfect that the two have come together to put out the song “Drown”. The production is as dreamy as Clairo’s lush vocals, and Cuco gives the track some edge with his bilingual vocals. Give it a listen below:
The song was borne out of the Adidas Originals x Yours Truly “Songs from Scratch” series. It was aired as a World Record on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show.
You can catch both of these artists in Los Angeles in the near future. Cuco will be opening for Portugal. The Man at the Shrine Auditorium on Friday, August 10 (enter to win a pair of tickets here). Clairo has her own sold-out headline shows at The Roxy on Monday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 14 in support of her excellent debut EP diary 001. I’d bet money that we see Cuco join her on stage for at least one of these shows like he did in New York.
