Multi-platinum artist Christina Perri played a very special intimate show at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood on Friday night. 2021 marked the 10th anniversary of her groundbreaking debut album Lovestrong with her major hit single “Jar of Hearts” which went 6x platinum and “Arms” which went gold. To top that off Perri’s single “A Thousand Years” released on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 & 2– Original Motion Picture Soundtracks which went diamond and made the YouTube Billion View Club having over 2 billion views now. Her second album Head or Heart was certified gold and had the 3x platinum single “Human.” Perris last tour was opening for Ed Sheeran in 2016 and a historic show with Billy Joel in her hometown of Philadelphia, PA at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Phillies.
In celebration of her latest album Lighter Shade of Blue released the day of this show, Perri performed part of the album. In her words “half album and half favs” so fans could hear some of the new album and hits. This is her first full length album in eight years since Head or Heart. Included on Lighter Shade of Blue are the two tracks she had released prior to the album’s release “Evergone” and “Mothers.” The show was performed acoustic and accompanying Perri was her keyboardist/ backing vocalist Emily Grace and her guitarist Johnny Hanson. The stage was decorated with flowers. Perri was very humorous as well with some of her stories between songs like eating cereal late at night on the tour bus. Perri also opened up about her album Songs for Rosie written about her daughter Rosie, in which she suffered a stillbirth and how her label rep discussed making the album with her after such a traumatic experience. Perri also talked quite about her four year old daughter Carmella. Whenever you see an artist like this in such an intimate setting where they can interact with the audience truly is a once in a lifetime experience.
