Fresh off an appearance with NxWorries on Sunday at Blurry Vision 2018, everybody’s favorite rising hip-hop star Anderson .Paak dropped a new single Thursday on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show and it’s sizzlin’.
Paak has promised two new albums this year — one with his band The Free Nationals and one on his own. This new track seemingly comes from the latter project, and it’s flames.
The track — called Bubblin” — is a quick-tempo jam once that features a simple intro that rolls right into some flavorful bars from the Los Angeles-based rapper. “One in the hand, one in the bag bubblin’ / Look at the cash, look at the cash comin’ in,” he sings in the chorus. This song should immediately be added to all of your Bops of the Summer 2018 playlists. Watch the fun and vibrant video for the song below:
“I had the beat from Jahlil Beats and AntMan Wonder,” he said during the interview. “I was trying to get Lil Simz to rap on it first because she was in the studio too. I remember trying to get other people on it, and then eventually I just wrote on it.” .Paak also teased more new music: “I have 65,000 songs in the vault,” he said. “No features, fam.” Listen to the full interview below:
For those that know me, Anderson .Paak is my favorite hip-hop artist alive today and 2016’s solo effort Malibu was my favorite record in the genre since Common dropped Be more than 10 years ago.
Paak has only a handful of American shows coming up that includes appearances at Hangout Fest and Lightning in a Bottle the next two weekends. You can also catch Paak as part of NxWorries next month as part of the inaugural Smokin Grooves Festival in Long Beach.
