Scott Hansen, aka ambient electronic juggernaut Tycho, has dropped his latest album Epoch. Due to this, he’s announced a surprise live show next week at the Fonda Theatre, which should have everyone excited.
Tycho is my favorite electronic music to drive to. The amount of layers that fill his tunes are second to none. One of my favorite festival sets all year was back in March seeing Tycho bring their live setup to CRSSD Fest. The performance took place at sunset and it couldn’t have been any more perfect. I’ve seem him at festivals all over the country but never his own gig. But that’ll surely change with next week’s show.
If you liked what you heard from their 2014 release Awake, you’ll love Epoch (available now via Ghostly International). It’s more of the same ambient loveliness you’ve come to expect. It comes off as slightly more danceable than Awake, which was a bit more subdued in some parts. I’ve already fallen in love with some of the more riff-heavy tracks, such as the album’s second track “Horizon.”
Tickets to see Tycho at the Fonda Theatre go on sale today at 12 noon Pacific time. Tickets to the show are $35.00. Doors are set to open at 8 PM and the show begins at 9 PM. Buy tickets below and even further, listen to the new album below as well.
