If you didn’t know that the coolest place to be this past Wednesday night was the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever to see The Tallest Man On Earth play, now you know, and hopefully you’ll be able to catch the next show.
In between playing new songs from his forthcoming album Henry St, (out 4/14) with a band for the very first time in Los Angeles, Kristian Matsson made jokes and had the whole room laughing along. Kristian swapped instruments for almost every song – from guitar to banjo and keys (and a mandolin?!) – yielding a wide variety of sounds and feelings, and showcasing his smooth voice, vocal range and lyricism. Standing in this audience felt warm and familiar, as though the room was filled with old friends at a sweet get together by a bonfire. The night was peaceful and pure – hearts are still swaying to The Tallest Man On Earth songs several days later, and counting moments until the Henry St. release.
