Remi Wolf cracks Greek Theatre crowd wide open

On Wednesday night, Remi Wolf brought the Big Ideas Tour to a sold out Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Remi and her band joined us on the second-to-last show of her 21-date American tour, following an electrifying performance at Austin City Limits the weekend prior.

This entire set was an incredible showcase of excellence. Adlibs, runs, screams, belts – Remi has an insane and well-practiced range. Her vocal capabilities surpassed any expectation I had going into the evening and her six-piece band was able to seamlessly match her caliber of musicianship.

It’s amazing to see someone completely in their element. The stage is where Remi belongs. I’ve never seen such enigmatic and unrelenting stage presence sustained throughout an entire set. From the opening song “Cherries & Cream” people were on their feet until the final notes of the encore, Photo ID”. The LA crowd is a notoriously tough one to crack, but from my vantage point I didn’t see a single person immune to her infectious energy.

Between songs, Remi shared stories and anecdotes with the crowd – about Erewhon, about Echo Park, and about her gratitude for her place on stage. We were prepped with a beautiful intro monologue about Playboy parties, cocaine usage, and her Florida ‘sexcapades’ before delving into my favorite on the album, “Alone in Miami”. Mid-set we were gifted with a beautiful rendition of Rascal Flatts’ “Life is a Highway”, followed by a completely improvised song using the word “smooch” from the crowd.

The entire band gathered center stage for a choreographed intro to “Toro”, a song that embodies the album’s themes of liberation and empowerment. The set concluded with four of her more upbeat pop-funk songs, culminating in “Soup” before the encore of her 2021 hit, “Photo ID”.

Everything about the night was enchanting – the vibes were immaculate, and the lighting design was unforgettable. Remi Wolf is on track for a celebrated and massive career; I recommend getting on board now.

The Big Ideas Tour will pick back up in Europe at the end of November.
