When we first saw the UK’s rising pop star Holly Humberstone play in LA a few years ago, you could sense there were some nerves involved. But on her most recent trip to LA on Friday night at the Fonda Theatre, there was no signs of nerves whatsoever.
Humberstone was touring in support of her upcoming debut full-length record Paint My Bedroom Black, which drops Oct. 13 (via Darkroom/Geffen/Polydoor).
The setlist was packed with favorites from her first couple of EPs that helped launch her as a rising star during the pandemic. Now fully seasoned with an appearance at Coachella a few years ago and across the festival circuit, as well as opening support slots for the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and girl in red, she displayed a confidence that will help her as she plays bigger and bigger rooms.
Humberstone would hit Outside Lands 2023 later that same weekend. It’s clear that she will be playing rooms bigger than theaters sooner rather than later, so those that got to see her in these intimate rooms will hold onto that.
Opening the show was Texas singer-songwriter Allison Ponthier.
