Gary Clark Jr. just headlined the Greek Theatre this past Saturday — but he’s not done playing LA for 2016.
The impossibly talented singer/songwriter/guitarist has announced a special solo date at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel on Thursday, December 1. The Austin-based musician is still touring in support of his fantastic 2015 album The Story of Sonny Boy Slim. It’s been a memorable year for the singer, who got married in between Coachella performances in Indio this April and has headlined massive venues all across the country.
Seeing Gary Clark Jr. with Shakey Graves this past weekend was one of my favorite concerts of the year. Fellow Austin musician Shakey Graves opened. My face has yet to return to its normal form after Clark melted it off with his guitar shredding. As amazing of a guitarist as he is, his versatility and vocal ability is criminally underrated. He can hit a falsetto and deliver some really sexy jams to go along with his riff-heavy bangers. He crosses multiple genres as evidenced by the wide-reaching demographic that showed up Saturday at the Greek.
Tickets to see Gary Clark Jr. at the Theatre at the Ace go on sale Friday, October 7 at 10 AM Pacific Time. A pre-sale takes place Thursday, October 6 at 10 AM. The pre-sale password is TAKEMEDOWN. Tickets are priced between $34.50 and $59.50.
