Australian artist G Flip made brought the house down at The Roxy on Thursday night.
Since the age of 23, G Flip has been making a name for themself having released 16 singles, won the AIR award for Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year in 2019 and in 2020 an MTV Europe Music Award and in both 2019 and 2020 won a National Live Music Award (Australia).
To simply explain a G Flip show would be pure raw energy. G Flip switched between drums, guitar, and vocals throughout the night and the two musicians backing G Flip switched between guitar, drums, and bass. The coolest part of the show would be when the lights went out and G Flip did a drum solo with light-up sticks. This is definitely the drummer to look out for these days. A few songs performed were “Lover,” “I Am Not Afraid,” “About You,” and “Queen.” On a song like “Scream” G Flip played guitar then switched to drums. For the second to last song “Gay 4 Me” G Flip was joined by Lauren Sanderson.
