The Forecastle 2017 lineup has dropped and the Louisville festival will be the latest to jump on the LCD Soundsystem reunion train.
James Murphy and Co. will headline the 15th year — along with Weezer and ODESZA. The festival takes place July 14 to 16 at Waterfront Park.
LCD Soundsystem made the festival rounds as much as anyone in 2016 — first reuniting for a couple warm-up gigs in NYC and at the Fox Theater Pomona before hitting Coachella, Primavera, Bonnaroo, FYF Fest, Outside Lands, Glastonbury, T in the Park, WayHome, Panorama, Lollapalooza, and a couple others. Some of their crowds weren’t massive, but they are definitely a more-than-solid get for a headliner at Forecastle.
Also on the bill are Cage the Elephant, PJ Harvey, Run the Jewels, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, GRiZ, X Ambassadors, Vince Staples, NEEDTOBREATHE, Conor Oberst, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Modern Baseball, Cashmere Cat, STRFKR, and many more.
Forecastle added some names to the lineup on the last day of January. That list includes Sturgill Simpson, Spoon, Phantogram, Capital Cities, Tycho, Real Estate, Whitney, Chicano Batman, K. Flay, and What So Not.
It’s exciting to see PJ Harvey on an American festival bill. There’s hope for seeing her elsewhere if she’s going to be in the States around this time. Conor Oberst is another good get by Forecastle. One hopes that Charles Bradley being billed means that the singer is recovering from cancer treatment.
