It’s been a busy 2017 for Amelia Murray’s Fazerdaze. The New Zealander has had her debut album Morningside released by Flying Nun Records, she’s played at festivals around the globe (Including Reeperbahn, Great Escape, & Immergut), and toured Europe, Australia, and Asia.
Sunday night at The Echo was both her first LA show ever and the final stop of a North American tour. Her songs flowed in waves of reverb and haze from moody slower and midtempo songs to some more energetic material like the highlight of the night “Lucky Girl”. The Echo was overflowing with a huge crowd that was super into the show, especially for an LA audience.
Half the audience was singing along for the entire show which is maybe surprising for a first LA appearance? Murray gave thanks for the warm welcome several times and she and the band were clearly having a great time on stage giving their all for this last show of the tour.
Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Echo so packed. And when the show was over no one left they just shifted over to the merch table and Amelia and her fans all met and chatted.
With a great voice, well crafted songs, hooks for days, and an undeniable energy we’re sure to hear a lot more from Fazerdaze soon.
