Los Angeles folk rockers Dawes have an intimate show coming up. They’ll play the Hollywood Forever Cemetery‘s Masonic Lodge in September.
The band will be celebrating the release of their new album — the gloomily-titled We’re All Gonna Die (HUB Records) — on Friday, September 16. That is the same day the album drops. The Masonic Lodge holds only a few hundred people, making this particular performance very special for those in attendance.
The new album features a very impressive list of collaborators. Alabama Shakes queen pin Brittany Howard, My Morning Jacket‘s Jim James, and Lucius‘ Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe all appear. The band has been rather busy these days. The album serves as a follow-up to last year’s full-length record All Your Favorite Bands.
The band released the video for “When the Tequila Runs Out,” the first song from the upcoming new album. You can watch the video at the bottom of this post.
“In that sense I feel like there was a consistency in mood and outlook our other records don’t have,” Taylor Goldsmith said of the record. “Pretty much every song on this record explores a difficult situation and tries to find a way to find the good in it, or at least remind yourself that it’s not always that big of a deal. After all, as scary as it is, we are all gonna die.”
Tickets to the show at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever are priced at $35.00 and go on sale Friday, August 19 at 12 PM noon Pacific Time. Doors open at 8 PM. There is a two-ticket limit per customer and the original purchaser must show photo ID at the door.
Dawes will also be playing an in-store set at Long Beach’s Fingerprints Records the day before on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 PM.
