18-year-old rising indie pop singer Charlotte Lawrence brought a super sold-out all-ages crowd together at the Moroccan Lounge on Tuesday night.
Lawrence has been dropping killer pop tune after killer pop tune since last year, and it’s clear that the buzz is for real. The Los Angeles native wowed the crowd with her powerful voice on songs like “Sleep Talking”, “Psychopath”, and “Just The Same”. There’s a dark edge to her brand of pop, and many of her songs lean towards being more ballad than club banger.
You may have hear Lawrence on the soundtrack for the Netflix hit show 13 Reasons Why for her song “Falling Skies” with YUNGBLUD.
Lawrence also brought out Natalie Maines to help on a cover of Fleetwood Mac classic “Landslide”. The daughter of screenwriter/producer/director Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Spin City) and actress Christa Miller (Kate O’Brien on The Drew Carey Show) — she is the spitting image of her mother.
“When I released ‘Sleep Talking’ I started gaining a fan base that loved me for my music,” Lawrence told PAPER Magazine earlier this month. “I started being recognized and talked about as a musician rather that just an Instagram personality or a model. That’s all that I would want people to follow me for and be interested in my life for, because music is my passion.”
I’m certain we will be seeing more of Charlotte Lawrence in bigger and bigger venues across Los Angeles and beyond. She’ll be joining LAUV on a tour across the country later this fall.
