Friday night, Canadian electronic duo Blue Hawaii made their long-awaited return to LA at new Arts District venue, the Moroccan Lounge.
The show featured songs from new Arbutus Records release Tenderness, as well as a few older gems. Singer Raphaelle Standell-Preston’s voice sounded incredible over Alex Cowan’s moody beats with highlights including up-tempo “No One Like You” and the cool and building “Do You Need Me” from the new album.
While the lyrics from Blue Hawaii’s songs can be emotional and heavy at times, Standell-Preston is one of those performers who looks like they’re having the greatest time singing. Between song banter was also light and fun and the whole night kind of turned into dancing and laughing and dancing and laughing and it was a pretty great way to spend a Friday night.
