Global pop sensation Ava Max brought her worldwide headlining tour into California last week Monday, with a sold-out stop at the House of Blues in San Diego. Young fans lined up as early as 11am in hopes of securing a spot up close to the multi-platinum artist, who is now on the road supporting her highly-anticipated sophomore album Diamonds & Dance Floors. The COVID pandemic had derailed earlier touring plans following the release of her 2020 debut album Heaven & Hell”, leading to the obviously-appropriate name for this rescheduled tour: “Ava Max On Tour (Finally)”.
Ava took to the stage in a sparkling silver & black pleated skirt, with a black top and matching sparkling long sleeves. She wowed the packed crowd for nearly an hour and a half, with selections from Diamonds & Dance Floors, and also from Heaven & Hell (including mega hits “Sweet but Psycho” and “Kings & Queens”). Performing in front of a giant star-lit diamond on stage and surrounded by an all-female quartet of dancers, her energy and powerful vocals dazzled us all and felt like some sort of magical Lady Gaga + Dua Lipa ride. It was definitely worth the 2+ hour trek down the coast from Los Angeles to see this rising star shine bright.
