We are a few weeks away from the inaugural Arroyo Seco Weekend in Pasadena, Calif., and Goldenvoice have released the set times for the two-day fest. Arroyo Seco takes place Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25.
Headlining Saturday are Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers — who I FINALLY get to cross off my bucket list. Headlining Sunday are Mumford & Sons, who delivered killer headline sets at Hangout and Boston Calling earlier this year.
What makes Arroyo Seco stand out is the number of acts that are unique to this festival. The music festival landscape is pretty crowded these days, meaning you see the same few dozen names across most lineups. That isn’t the case with Arroyo Seco.
The Alabama Shakes aren’t playing but a handful of festivals in 2017. New Orleans funksters The Meters are a rare festival booking. Revitalized acts Broken Social Scene and LiVE are pretty unique bookings. R&B and blues songstress ZZ Ward isn’t on the circuit in 2017. And where else can you see actor Jeff Goldblum — who is also a talented pianist — perform? Dawes, Lettuce, The Mowgli’s, and Baskery are also killer acts that aren’t playing many — if any — festivals in 2017.
