Canadian dream-pop band Alvvays (pronounced “always”) sold out The Wiltern in K-Town on Saturday night. Touring in support of their third album Blue Rev, front-woman Molly Rankin and company got into the Halloween spirit and dressed up as ZZ Top, even throwing in a cover of “La Grange” in homage to the classic rockers.
It’d been quite a few years since the Canadian group played a full headlining set in Los Angeles, but they came back firing on all cylinders and energizing the packed house with a mixture of fan favorites and brand new songs.
Midwestern indie rock band Slow Pulp opened the night, also dressed in costume as Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy, but without their favorite dog in sight (Scooby-Doo, where where you?!).
Alvvays’ tour continues back across the U.S. this week, ending on November 18th in Boston before heading out internationally.
