This weekend marks the return of the second-annual BeachLife Ranch 2023 in Redondo Beach! Headlined by Jack Johnson, The Doobie Brothers, and Brad Paisley, the three-day festival kicks off Friday and features an assortment of hot Americana, country, blues, and other related genre acts.
We’ve highlighted one early-day undercard act that you should check out each day! No shock that each act highlighted is a female-fronted act — BeachLife Ranch 2023 is full of them!
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
PILLBOX PATTI
2:00 to 3:00 PM at Highlands Stage
Nashville-based Nicollete Hayford spent years writing songs for the likes of Ashely McBryde and Lainey Wilson among others, but has stepped out on her own and is putting out some pretty fun stuff. “Young and Stupid” is an anthem that will be fun to sing along to on Friday afternoon.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
LARKIN POE
2:00 to 3:00 PM at Highlands Stage
Nashville-based and Georgia-bred roots rock sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell have been rocking out for years and are really coming into their own right now. Fresh off the release of last year’s Blood Harmony, the sisters are a can’t miss live act. They are particularly known for delivering fresh covers with their own takes on songs by Lenny Kravitz, Elvis, Phil Collins, and others, so even if you don’t know their music, you’ll be singing along to something if you catch their set.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
JESS WILLIAMSON
4:30 to 5:30 at Tito’s Barn
Austin indie folk singer Jess Williamson has been a longtime favorite of mine. She has six full-length records to her name and all of them are strong. Her latest release Time Ain’t Accidental kicks all sorts of ass and it might be her strongest work yet. It’s got a couple country ballads that are perfect for BeachLife Ranch 2023. Williamson’s voice will give you chills and I’m stoked she got a good timeslot this weekend.
